The SLR-B320P60 is a 60W solar panel and a 320Wh battery – combined into a simple metal housing that’s easy to install using the included loop ring clamps. It comes with an O&M module, which gather voltage information from the battery and displays it on the camera’s OSD during live view.
There’s also a built-in heating module for the battery, helping to protect the battery life and ensure stable charging.
However, it’s important to be aware that during conditions of consistently cloudy weather, the solar panel will not be able to charge the battery. Once the battery becomes empty, the camera will be offline until the sun comes back.
Important: For optimal solar panel, you should face the panel south at an angle of about 60°. This is because the sun can reach a low angle of 23° above the horizon (in Toronto), so you should angle the panel further outwards to catch the most sunlight during the cold winter months. The steep angle also helps to prevent snow from accumulating on the panel.
