Product Overview

The NVR824-256R is one of the most powerful video recording servers made by Uniview. Capable of recording up to 256 IP Cameras simultaneously, this NVR is built for commercial projects and condominium buildings. Additionally, this unit has four separate Gigabit NIC ports for supporting a massive network of security cameras.

Up to 24 hard drives can be installed in this NVR; they can be hot-swapped via the removable front cover.

NVR824-256R vs. NVR516-128E-R – Which Enterprise NVR Do You Need?

The NVR824-256R and the NVR516-128E-R both have hot-swappable drives, RAID 0 to 60, N+1 hot spare and an optional redundant power supply. The main differences are capacity and resolution:

  • Camera channels: 256 (NVR824) vs. 128 (NVR516)
  • Max recording resolution: 12MP (NVR824) vs. 32MP (NVR516)
  • Hard drive bays: 24, up to 384 TB total, plus 2 miniSAS ports for expansion enclosures (NVR824) vs. 16, up to 256 TB total (NVR516)
  • Network ports: 4 Gigabit (NVR824) vs. 2 Gigabit (NVR516)
  • Incoming bandwidth: 768 Mbps (NVR824) vs. 640 Mbps (NVR516)

Choose the NVR824-256R for the largest projects, with up to 256 cameras and room to add disk enclosures. Choose the NVR516-128E-R for up to 128 cameras, or when you need to record 16MP and 32MP cameras.
